Car guys know that when it comes to getting what you want, there are two ways of getting it: You can use your hard-earned skills and work your tail off to create the object of your dreams; or, barring skills . . . and having money . . . you can pay to have someone else build it for you.

This story is something like that—but not exactly!

It all revolves around the extraordinary skills of automotive designer Chip Foose, the Southern Californian who painted his first car as a 12-year-old and hasn’t stopped making a name for himself since . . . and a couple of guys named Doug Hasty of the Texas-based company Unique Performance and the repro parts guy, Kevin King, who runs Year One.

They’ve come together to create seven different vehicles, with the latest being the limited edition Foose Stallion, a current generation Ford Mustang that Foose has changed with styling touches that include two-tone DuPont Hot Hues paint and a bunch of performance parts.

The Foose Stallion has a lot of stylin’ items, including 20-inch custom wheels with ultra high-performance tires, a modified hood, side moldings, a revised grille and an aerodynamic rear spoiler.

In the performance department, you’ll find Eibach springs, Baer Brakes’ “Decelerators” cross-drilled rotors both front and back, Ford Racing Performance Goodies, including high-flow axleback exhaust.

The current Stallion offers Ford Racing Power Pack cold air induction to the V-8 engine, so you get an estimated 335 ponies out of your pony.

On the list of things planned for the future is the addition of a Ford Racing supercharger that will pump the horsepower up to 425, and Foose will give you a custom hood scoop to go with it.

The Stallion is available in five Hot Hues colors: White, Satin Silver, Torch Red, Black and Vista Blue, with interior choices being dark charcoal, light graphite and a black/red combo.

Explaining the Stallion, Chip says, “"I've always dreamed of creating a limited edition streetcar, and Ford's Mustang is an extraordinary platform for a custom musclecar. We wanted to stay true to what makes the Mustang special, but wanted to create a distinctive new look. So, we revised the styling cues to include a custom front grille and hood, new front and rear fascias, added some discreet scoops and lowered the stance."

Hey, it works for us!

Available as a coupe or as a convertible, the Foose Stallions will be sold through a network of 85 dealers and will range from $38,000 to $41,000 each. Each ear’s run is being limited to just 3,000 cars.

Foose and Unique Performance are also offering some pricier tidbits as well, including the 500-550 horsepower Foose Coupe ($298,000), the 360-540 horsepower Foose Challenger ($149,000), the 350-390 horsepower Foose ’69 Camaro coupe or convertible ($124,000) . . . and even a motorcycle, the Foose Chopper for $79,995.

Unique Performance is utilizing its north Texas production facility and parts from Year One to produce other limited production vehicles from automotive icon Carroll Shelby.
